Mission

South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) was established in 1965 with the mission to improve the quality of life of low-income and disadvantaged individuals and families by advocating for their needs and rights; providing services; educating the community; building a community of support; participating in coalitions with other advocates and searching for new resources and partnerships.

SMOC Financial Services (SFS) was established in 2015 to build upon this mission by providing microloans and technical assistance to low- and moderate-income (LMI) entrepreneurs in the MetroWest and Worcester areas as well as to build partnerships with and organize other organizations and institutions to build a network of services available to businesses in these often overlooked communities.
